WALKS

Walking without a route

A walk does not need a destination to leave something behind.

A familiar street looks different when there is no appointment waiting at the other end. The shop windows stop being landmarks on a route and become small scenes worth noticing.

I like to choose a direction rather than a destination. At the next corner I can change my mind. The point is not to cover distance, but to make room for the things a hurried journey edits out.

On returning, I write down one detail: a painted doorway, the sound of a bicycle, a tree growing through a fence. It is enough to give an ordinary afternoon a shape.
