OBSERVATIONS

A window seat

Watching a landscape change at the speed of a train.

From a window seat, the landscape becomes a sequence of unfinished pictures. A field gives way to a yard, then a wall, then a brief view into another street.

I try not to photograph every interesting thing. The attempt to keep everything can make it harder to see what is actually there. Some views are better left as memories.

At the end of the journey, the details I remember are usually modest: light on a roof, a station clock, the last row of houses before open ground.
